General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) - Policy
Darlington Music Society (DMS) provides classical music concerts in Darlington and, in order to communicate with its audience, uses both mail and email. Under the General Data Protection Regulations which apply from 25th May 2018, DMS has a data controller, currently the Treasurer.
DMS holds data on individuals or groups only with the specific consent of those individuals or groups.
The data held comprises
Name
Postal address
email address
Telephone number
records of tickets purchased
records of any donations made to DMS
These data are used only for the following purposes
notification of future DMS concerts, either by the annually published brochure, or by emailed announcements shortly before each concert
other DMS events including the Annual General Meeting
announcements directly involving DMS
application for Gift Aid when applicable
The data is not used for any other purpose, nor passed to any other organisation, with the following exception.
DMS has a reciprocal agreement with Richmondshire Subscription Concerts (RSC) whereby RSC season tickets are sold at half-price to DMS season ticket purchasers. In this case, names and postal addresses are passed to RSC solely for the purpose of administering those tickets.
Individuals or groups who do not provide specific consent will not be held on the DMS database. Therefore they will not receive
notification of concerts either by post or email.
When individuals or groups request to be added to the data base (through use of a DMS mailing list form or by email) DMS will continue to provide communications until the individual or group request to be removed from the list or DMS removes the details at its discretion,
